As we hurtle towards this evening’s transfer deadline, things are as busy as ever at Celtic Park.

The club are working on several fronts to get multiple deals over the line before 11 pm.

Arne Engels and Auston Trusty are on the way, but fans are hoping for a few late surprises.

One of those could have come in the form of Lyon midfielder Amadou Diawara.

According to a report in French outlet Foot Mercato, Celtic have had a loan offer for the teenager rejected.

The Hoops were said to have included an eight million euro buy option in the proposed deal, but Lyon has no intentions of selling Diawara this summer.

The news comes as Brendan Rodgers looks to continue to strengthen his midfield following Matt O’Riley’s departure.

He wanted two players to come into the engine room if the Dane left and so far, he looks to have got one in Engels. It remains to be seen who the other might be.
