Mohamed Elyounoussi “Still in touch” With People From Celtic
Former Celtic winger Mohamed Elyounoussi has admitted he is still in touch with his friends from the club.
The Norwegian joined the Hoops in 2019 and eventually spent two years on loan in Glasgow from Southampton.
He was a shining light in the dark Covid season, registering 25 goal contributions across all competitions. Now at Copenhagen, Elyounoussi is still thriving.
He moved to Denmark last summer on a free transfer after his contract expired on the south coast.
The 30-year-old played a key role as his side got to the last 16 of the Champions League last term, scoring three times in the comPetition.
He is currently back in Scotland as Copenhagen prepares to face Kilmarnock in the Europa Conference League play-offs this evening.
The Danes hold a 2-0 aggregate lead and ahead of the match, Elyounoussi has lifted the lid on his Celtic relations.
“I still watch the Celtic Games and I am still in touch with some of the boys”, he said (Football Scotland).
“I spoke with John Kennedy a few weeks ago, so I follow what is happening at the club. I’m still a big Celtic fan and I’m hoping they can have a good season like last year.”
There likely will never be a reunion between Celtic and Elyounoussi, but that doesn’t kill his love for the club.
He clearly understands what it meant to play for the Bhoys, and was one of few who turned up during a season where everything that could have gone wrong, did.
