Francis Ngannou is a former UFC Heavyweight champion of the world and one of the most notorious fighters of his generation.

Unfortunately, tragedy recently struck Ngannou’s family.

On Monday the mixed martial artist-turned-boxer announced that his 15-month-old son had died.

Ngannou made the announcement via a series of public posts:

“Too soon to leave but yet he’s gone,” Ngannou wrote. “My little boy, my mate, my partner Kobe was full of life and joy. Now he’s laying without life. I shouted his name over and over but he’s not responding.

“I was my best self next to him and now I have no [clue] of who I am. Life is so unfair to hit us where it hurts the most.

“How do you deal with such a thing? How can you live with it? Please help me if you have an idea because I really don’t know what to do and how to deal with this.”

Many immediately began to speculate about Ngannou’s baby son’s cause of death, but one wasn’t publicly announced.

“The circumstances of Kobe’s death are unclear,” Yahoo Sports confirmed.

Ngannou obviously has trended a lot over the past few months due to video emerging that some believe reveals his fight with Anthony Joshua was rigged. But obviously none of that matters in the face of this tragedy.

Will Ngannou ultimately announce his baby son’s cause of death at some point in the foreseeable future? Time will tell.
