Ubisoft Won't Be At E3 This Year, Will Hold Its Own Event
It's been revealed that Ubisoft has officially pulled out of this year's E3 event, as the publisher plans to hold its own Ubisoft Forward event during the same time. Ubisoft has announced that a Ubisoft Forward Live event will take place on June 12 later this year in Los Angeles, in which we will likely see updates on many titles the publisher has cooking, such as Assassin's Creed Mirage and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.
This information was revealed by VGC, which has been contacted by a Ubisoft spokesperson who stated the publisher is planning to "move in a different direction" rather than attend E3 this year. The publisher had previously committed to attending this year, although this will no longer be the case. Ubisoft has now joined both Microsoft and Nintendo confirming their lack of attendance this year, while it's expected that Sony will also hold its own event as usual.
With this news, the question of whether E3 organiser ReedPop will have enough to publisher's to hold this year's event has reared its head once again. Pouring fuel onto the fire is now Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, who claims that a number of developers at this year's GDC conference had no idea whether as to whether E3 will go ahead as planned.
Now the biggest confirmed publisher has pulled out of E3, it's a little difficult to see how it's going to makes its grand return. Of course, there are several other big publisher like EA that still have yet to reveal their plans for this summer, though many could opt to have their Games showcased as part of the Summer Games Fest which is hosted by Geoff Keighley each year. ReedPop hasn't commented on the situation as of yet, though we'll keep you updated if things change at all.
