The Strong Chelsea Side Celtic Can Expect to Face This Weekend
Celtic continue their preparations for the new campaign this Saturday as they take on Chelsea in their final pre-season friendly.
Fresh off the back of a deserved 4-3 victory in a thrilling clash with English champions Manchester City, the Bhoys are in fine fettle ahead of the clash.
While City boasted the likes of Erling Haaland, Jack Grealish, Kalvin Phillips, and Oscar Bobb in their lineup in the early hours of Wednesday morning, the majority of their players came from their academy. Chelsea, though, will be different.
They played Wrexham overnight and drew 2-2. Enzo Maresca made 10 alterations at half time but his side remained strong.
England internationals Reece James and Levi Colwill started the first half alongside the likes of Robert Sanchez in goal, former Monaco man Benoit Badiashile, and Noni Madueke. Christopher Nkunku combined with Marc Guiu for their 35th-minute opener; the latter was signed from Barcelona this summer.
In the second 45, Maresca brought on the likes of Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell, Armando Broja, Wesley Fofana, and Malo Gusto, proving the vast array of talent at his disposal.
This weekend, we will likely see all of the above-mentioned men get minutes against Celtic.
Compared to the Hoops’ Game against City, this one will be a much tougher test against high-quality players who already have one pre-season match under their belt.
Kick-off on Saturday night is at 9 pm in the UK, and fans can watch the showdown via pay-per-view.
