Only Murders in the Building Season 4 cast updates

Your favourite crime-comedy drama Only Murders in the Building is set to make its highly-anticipated return. From 27th August 2024 onwards, Disney+/Hulu will drop one episode every week. Even though the original trio of amateur detectives Mabel Mora, Charles Haden-Savage, and Oliver Putnum will return, we will miss Tobert (played by Jesse Williams) onscreen this season. However, the new trailer of the show has revealed another exciting lineup of cameos and supporting roles that will keep the murder mystery intriguing. Set in the fictional building Arconia on the Upper West Side of New York City, the crime comedy-drama follows three crime podcast-addicted residents of the building who try to solve the murders in their building while creating a podcast of their own. The show is laced with comedic relief, often featuring interesting cameos from well-known stars, which a layer of drama and grandeur to the show.

New and returning cast members in Only Murders in the Building Season 4

The detective trio — Steve Martin as Charles Haden Savage, Martin Short as Oliver Putnum, and Selena Gomez as Mabel Mora will return as usual. Jane Lynch will continue to play Charles’ stunt double Sazz Pataki and Meryl Streep is confirmed to return as Oliver’s love interest, actress Loretta Durkin. Da’Vine Joy Randolph (Detective Williams), Michael Cyril Creighton (Howard), Ryan Broussard (Will Putnam), Tina Fey (Cinda Canning), Jackie Hoffman (Uma), Jason Veasey (Jonathan) will also reprise their roles in the series.

Molly Shannon

SNL star Molly Shannon will play a recurring role as a “high-powered LA Business woman” who somehow becomes entangled with Sazz Pataki’s murder.

Eva Longoria

The Desperate Housewives alum will join the show as an actress set to play Mabel Mora in an in-universe movie about the podcast Only Murders in the Building.

Eugene Levy

The Schitt’s Creek star will play Charles Haden Savage in an in-universe movie about OMITB.

Zach Galifianakis

The comedian-actor Zach Galifianakis is cast as Oliver Putnum for the in-universe OMITB movie that will debut within the context of the series.

Kumail Nanjiani

Kumail Nanjiani is also joining the star-studded cast of Only Murders in the Building Season 4. However, no information has been revealed about his role as yet.

Melissa McCarthy

Gilmore Girls alum Melissa McCarthy will also join the cast in season 4.

Additionally, Desmin Borges, Catherine Cohen, Jin Ha, Richard Kind, Lilian Rebelo, Daphne Rubin-Vega and Siena Werber are all set to join the cast of OMITB Season 4. Details about their roles are still under wraps.

What is Only Murders Season 4 about?

Season 4 of the crime comedy-drama will pick up where we left off. In the season 3 finale, we saw the cast partying on the terrace to celebrate the success of Oliver’s musical. But when Charles’ stunt double Sazz Pataki swings by his apartment to get a bottle of wine, she gets shot through the window and dies. The trio will definitely try and solve her murder case to uncover whether Charles was the real target.

On the flip side, the amateur detectives will leave for Los Angeles after a Hollywood studio shows an interest in turning their podcast into a film. The studio has cast Eugene Levy, Zach Galifianakis, and Eva Longoria as Charles, Oliver, and Mabel, respectively. As a result, a significant portion of the show will take place in Los Angeles, leaving the familiar The Arconia and Manhattan behind.
