Celtic’s 4-1 victory over Hearts at Tynecastle was marred by unsportsmanlike behaviour from a section of the home supporters, who threw objects at Adam Idah following his first goal.

The substitute striker was celebrating his goal at the side of the pitch when it happened, which was noted by Sky Sports reporter Luke Shanley.

Describing the scene, Shanley remarked on “things being thrown” in Idah’s direction, highlighting a regrettable moment in an otherwise dominant Celtic display.

Post-match, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers expressed his disappointment when asked about the episode. “It’s always a concern. I didn’t see that, but it’s never good,” Rodgers said, live on Sky Sports

If you look at the photo below, you can see what looks to be a disposable vape lying just a few feet away from the striker.

Despite the unsavoury incident, Idah’s contribution on the pitch was outstanding. Coming off the bench, the Irish international netted two goals, playing a pivotal role in securing Celtic’s win and extending their lead at the top of the Premiership table to three points over Aberdeen.

It was good to see the Irishman on the scoresheet after he’s been lacking in confidence in recent weeks.

Such behaviour from fans detracts from the spirit of the Game and raises safety concerns for players.

Hopefully, Hearts can find those responsible for the alleged actions and hold them accountable.
