Former Celtic manager Martin O’Neill has shared his thoughts on his old club and their progress under Brendan Rodgers.

With Celtic now three points clear of Aberdeen, boasting a superior goal difference, and 11 points ahead of the Rangers, Rodgers has the Hoops in a great position at this stage of the season

O’Neill said: (Sky Sports), “But Brendan has had a major boost in the last couple of hours. He’s seen Aberdeen getting beaten and Rangers dropping points. When was the last time Rangers were so far adrift in November? So, it’s a really good feeling.

“You’ve had Johnston just signing a new contract, everything seems rosy. You’ve just come off some great performances, and a gritty performance against Kilmarnock when they didn’t play so well. Good days ahead, it seems.”

O’Neill’s analysis offers the kind of insight only a former Celtic manager could provide, shedding light on Brendan Rodgers’ mindset after a pivotal day in the Scottish Premiership title race.

Despite being favourites to retain the title, the Hoops were looking to create some distance from Aberdeen, and today has been the day they finally moved three points clear.

With Rangers dropping points at home, Philippe Clement appears to be taking the Ibrox side backwards, contrary to the big expectations of much of the Scottish media, who once deemed such a decline impossible after last season.

With harmony between Rodgers and the Celtic board, who heavily backed the Irishman in the summer transfer window, he has been able to build on last season’s success so far.

The Hoops are set to comPete in the Premier Sports Cup final next month at Hampden, and remain firmly in contention for Champions League Football after the new year.

Everything is looking rosy at the time of writing for Rodgers and Celtic.
