Timberwolves vs Celtics Prediction, Picks, and Odds for Today’s NBA Game

Since falling to the Hawks by just one point, the Celtics have reeled off four straight wins, including a victory over the then-undefeated Cavs. Boston will look to keep rolling at home against the visiting Timberwolves, who are just 2-4 across their last six.

Minnesota hasn’t won in Boston in nearly 20 years, but my Timberwolves vs. Celtics predictions aren’t looking at the spread or total. Instead, I’m targeting the modest points + rebounds + assists line on Jayson Tatum. Read my NBA picks to see why you should take the Over in this market.

Timberwolves vs Celtics prediction

My best bet
Jayson Tatum Over 41.5 points + rebounds + assists (-115 at bet365)

My analysis

Jayson Tatum for MVP?

Tatum has the third-best NBA MVP odds right now, and he’s certainly building a convincing case. The 26-year-old forward leads his team in points (29.1), rebounds (8.2), and assists (6.1) through 16 games and has led the Boston Celtics to a 13-3 record.

Tatum has hit the Over on this line in 11 games this season, including four of seven appearances at home. Tatum’s scoring line is set at 26.5 for -130 odds, and his points + assists line is set at 32.5 for -120 odds. I like the points + assists odds, but we can do a little bit better by taking the PRAs for -115.

Tatum has played excellently against the Minnesota Timberwolves in recent seasons. Over his last five against the Wolves, Tatum has averaged 32.6 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 3.4 assists. He’s scored 30 or more points four times and hit the Over on this prop in four of five.

Boston’s superstar forward has hit the Over in two straight at TD Garden and averaged 48 PRAs along the way. To add a little sweetness to this prop, Tatum went for 31/12/6 in his only other day game played this season. I’m hammering the Over here.

Jayson Tatum Over 41.5 points + rebounds + assists

Anthony Edwards Over 27.5 points

Over 222

+400 at bet365

Anthony Edwards is averaging a career-best 27.9 points per game this season, but he’s hit the Over on this prop in just six of 15 appearances. Despite the infrequency of 28-point games from Edwards this season, I’m confidently backing the Over here.

Edwards has averaged 29.8 points across his last five matchups with the Celtics, and he’s scored at least 28 in four of those. Boston sports one of the Association’s best perimeter defenses, but the C’s will have their hands full with Edwards, who leads the NBA with 4.8 triples per game. Edwards has knocked down 3.6 triples per game against Boston over his last five, and I expect him to come out firing for this premier Sunday matinee.

Boston and Minnesota have been strong defensively this season, but both teams have hit the Over more often than they’ve hit the Under. The pair has a combined 17-13-1 record to the Over to kick off the 2024-25 campaign, and I’m counting on another Over result today.

The Celtics have hit the Over in three straight at TD Garden and four of their last five at home. Boston has gone 3-1 to the Over across their last four games overall.

The Wolves have hit the Over in four of their last six on the road. They’ve gone 3-3 to the Over across their last six overall.

These teams hit the Over in six of their last 10 head-to-head matchups. There are too many potent scoring options on both sides to count on an Under result with such a meager 222 point total. The Over is the clear choice here.
