Iiaiyaraaja gets 60 lakhs as compensation in his lawsuit against the Manjummel Boys

According to the report, music composer Ilaiyaraaja receieved 60 lakhs of the 2 crore he sought in compensation for copyright violations from thr Manjummel Boys team. Following the february release of the movie, he sent a legal warning to Manjummel Boys producers. He asserted that they did not have any authorization to utilize his songs, Kanmani Anbodu Kaadhalam. Despite his demands for a 2 crore compensation, money control says  that a settlement of 60 lakhs has been reached.

Shawn Antony and Soubir Shahir, the producer of Manjummel Boys, allegedly contracted the composer in person after getting the legal warning. Given that the movie was a huge hit and included a lot of songs usage. Neverthessly, a solution was eventually found by both parties, and the dispute was settled for 60 lakhs.

For some time now Ilaiyaraaja has been struggling for the rights to his music. He also filed a lawsuit against singer SP Balasubhrahmaniyam in 2017 for performing his songs on a world tour without his consent. in addition, he recently served a legal notice to the Coolie producers for utilizing the song Vaa Vaa from the 1983 movie Thanga Magan for a promotional video without getting his consent.
