Brendan Rodgers Confirms Hyeongyu Oh Rumours
Brendan Rodgers has acknowledged ongoing transfer interest in Celtic striker Hyeon-gyu Oh from KRC Genk, confirming rumours about a potential move for the South Korean forward.
Genk has reportedly made an offer of around £4.2 million for Oh, who was originally signed by Celtic 18 months ago for £2.5 million.
Oh has struggled to secure a consistent spot in the Celtic squad, particularly after the arrival of Adam Idah, which limited his playing opportunities even further. Despite these challenges, Oh featured for 45 minutes in Celtic’s recent pre-season friendly against Ayr, where Rodgers praised his attitude and performance.
He said to the Scotsman: “There’s some interest in Oh, so we’ll assess that as a club and then just manage that.
“But you see from tonight, his attitude is great. He had a good 45 minutes, worked well, worked hard. Let’s see what the coming days bring on that one.”
If the striker does leave Celtic, which it looks like he will, Celtic will have just one natural first-team striker.
Celtic are working to bring Adam Idah back to the club after his successful six months in Glasgow, but even if they do manage to sign the Irishman, they’ll still need to bring in another forward.
