New Restaurant Will Bring Life To Vacant Fishkill Storefront
For a change, an exciting announcement about a soon-to-be Business in the area rather than passing along details about another favorite spot closing their doors. This particular location has been a popular pick for locals and visitors to the Hudson Valley, and now we all collectively have something new and exciting to look forward to in the near future in Fishkill!
Former Michael's Sports Bar & Cafe/Whistling Willie's, Fishkill
Dating back to as early as 1989, the Fishkill Plaza (also known as Shop Rite Plaza) was home to Michael's, a great spot to grab a drink, a bite to eat, and take in a Game (or several). Michael's eventually shuttered their Rt. 9 Fishkill location, operating out of a spot on Osbourne Hill Road in Wappingers before closing for good during the heart of the pandemic in 2020.
Following Michael's initial departure, a new-to-Fishkill restaurant called Whistling Willie's II operated in the former Michael's Fishkill Plaza location. They closed up shop in June of 2016, surprising patrons with an announcement that indicated it would be their last week in the Fishkill storefront, and that they would continue focusing on their Cold Spring Location. Shortly after their Fishkill closure, the Cold Spring location followed, shuttering in January of 2020.

Kanoon Restaurant to Open in Fishkill Plaza
A new-to-the-area restaurant will soon open in the vacant storefront in the Fishkill Plaza, prepare to welcome Kanoon Smoked Meat and Steakhouse.
With existing locations in New Jersey and Virginia, Kanoon just (within the past few days) soft opened a second Long Island location, and are preparing to expand into Connecticut and to the Hudson Valley here in Fishkill. Kanoon is noted as having been the first halal smokehouse in New Jersey:
