Presidential nominee Kamala Harris is just what the doctor ordered for the revival of the United States Democratic party. With the support of both peers and former rivals alike across the political landscape of America, Harris has garnered endorsements from celebrities and pop culture royals alike. Here are 26 celebrities who have stepped up to endorse Democratic nominee Kamala Harris.

The stage lights have dimmed on the 2024 Democratic National Convention (DNC), which hosted a dazzling array of speeches from Democratic figureheads including the Obamas, president Joe Biden, former secretary of state Hillary Clinton, and United States representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez among others. One fact has since emerged in the sparkling display of power and hope: Kamala Harris is here to win.

Following Harris’ announcement as the de facto Democratic nominee to go up against Republican candidate Donald Trump, the Democrats and much of America’s youngest voters have rallied to her cause, raising millions in electoral donations across rallies and Zoom calls alike. Without a doubt, Harris has brought new life and hope to the Democratic party, rejuvenating the political scene and Democratic aspirations to retake the White House come November 5, 2024.

But how did she get there?

When incumbent president Joe Biden first announced that he would be running for a second term, many lifelong Democrats — including George Clooney and Cardi B — expressed concerns over his ability to win against Donald Trump. Over the course of the primaries, the Republicans took their cues from their felon-in-chief, attacking Biden for his age, his declining mental fortitude, and his health.

For his part, Biden appeared to confirm the Republicans’ concerns, with abysmal performances at rallies and debates cementing his growing ineligibility for government work. The Democratic prospects appeared slim at best, further dwindling as Biden suffered an unexpected bout of Covid, leading to even more speculations about his health and ability.

And then he stepped back.

Following Biden’s decision to exit the 2024 United States presidential race, vice president Kamala Harris stepped up to assume the mantle of leadership amongst Democrats. Chomping at the bit and raring to go, Harris quickly secured the required endorsements from Democratic delegates to unofficially become the Democratic nominee. This past week at the DNC, a beaming Harris officially accepted the role, marking a significant notch in her journey to the oval office.

The question remains: Why has Harris notably succeeded where Biden appeared to fail? Beyond her infectious laugh, humble origins, and relatable personality, the presidential candidate has also earned a place in popular culture by simply listening to the up-and-coming generation of voters: Millennials and Gen-Z.

Beginning with her induction into Brat Girl Summer by the trend’s proponent Charli XCX herself, Team Kamala have worked tirelessly across social media platforms popular amongst the youngest voters, notably TikTok, X (formerly Twitter), and Instagram. Her content cleverly leverages coconut tree memes and trending sounds, amping up her relatability by factors of a thousand and more. Equal measures meditative for an older demographic and fun and sassy for a younger crowd, Harris’ marketing campaign has been nothing short of extraordinary, proving her mettle in a sport often neglected in the realm of politics: Being open to change.

The one sentiment that has pervaded Harris’ messaging is her earnest desire to improve the lives of Americans, a sentiment vehemently shared by her running mate, Minnesota’s very own governor Tim Walz. Walz has likewise become a favourite among younger voters, many of whom have rallied to his cause. Among Walz’s greatest strengths, supporters have lauded his genuine personality, his midwestern sincerity, and his Dad-like brand of humour and care.

Kamala Harris’s election to the White House is more than just good politics — it is a good story. While Harris’ presidential aspirations live, so too do the hopes and dreams of the Black and South Asian community. So too live the hopes and dreams of women, of the rising generation of voters in America who harbour hopes for a better tomorrow.

If Harris succeeds come November, she will be a President of many firsts — the first woman president of the United States. The first president of South Asian descent. Her husband, Doug Emhoff, is set to become the nation’s inaugural First Gentleman. Christmas decorations at the White House, which are notably assigned to First Ladies, will be, for the first time, ordered by a man.

No matter how you spin it, Kamala Harris’ victory is certain to pave the way to a new American age. And for the younger generation of voters, who have spent their formative years in the shadow of political unrest, international war, economic disruptions, rising costs of living, and more, a change is a powerful thing to have.

A game of endorsements: Donald Trump vs Kamala Harris

Beyond drawing the ire of Celine Dion for the unsanctioned use of her iconic Titanic track My Heart Will Go On, the Trump camp have also recently come under fire for accepting a morally reprehensible, AI-generated fake endorsement from Taylor Swift. While that endorsement is evidently fake news, the former president has nonetheless received his fair share of celebrity endorsements. These include support from tech billionaire Elon Musk, the walking red flag that is Kanye West, and several others including Hulk Hogan, Amber Rose, Roseanne Barr, and Kid Rock.

Likewise, Harris has yet to secure an official endorsement from Swift. However, the singer, who is arguably the most powerful celebrity in the world, had previously endorsed Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden and is expected to voice her support of Harris in coming days. In the interim, the Harris-Walz ticket is not hurting for endorsements, having already secured support from a wide berth of celebrities.

Across the board, blue-leaning liberal celebrities, public figures, and even lifelong Republicans have come out in support of the Harris-Walz ticket, lighting a fire in the dramatic landscape of American Politics in 2024. At this week’s DNC alone, numerous high-profile celebrities took to the stage in support of the Democratic bid, including Oprah, Stevie Wonder, The Obamas, John Legend, Mark Hamill, Eva Longoria, Sean Astin, and Lil Jon among others. And they’re not alone.
