The class fan moment that left everyone in Celtic squad blown away and “amazed”
That Celtic avoided defeat in a pressurised title race situation at Ibrox last weekend was made all the more impressive because no away fans were there to support them.
There are no away allocations in the derby until next season so Celtic were fully ‘behind enemy lines’ against Rangers, managing to secure what could prove to be a vital point in the quest for silverware.
However, they certainly felt the love and the power of the Celtic support behind them regardless, in part thanks to a superb showing from fans 24 hours earlier.
Many Celtic fans turned up at Celtic Park to send off the team on their way to a hotel on Saturday evening, chanting and showing colour as buses left the stadium.
It’s not something that striker Adam Idah takes for granted and he’s shared how the team felt about seeing that level of backing.
Adam Idah on the Celtic fans
He said in a media conference today when asked [Celtic YouTube]: “It was amazing. Every single person on that bus was amazed. I had the fright of my life when I was driving in!
“It’s hard to put into words to be at a Football club and to have that support and that faNBAse where they love you, they genuinely love you.
MORE CELTIC STORIES
“As players, that makes you want to do so much for the club – win Games and win trophies. It’s huge. They’re huge for us, and playing in front of them is amazing, so all the lads love them.”
Adam Idah making a pleasing Celtic impact
Idah is a confident man right now, in part due to that backing. Whether coming off the bench or starting a match, he’s proving to be an effective presence in Brendan Rodgers’ team.
It remains to be seen whether Celtic will end up a permanent home for the Republic of Ireland forward. Regardless, it’s a smart bet that he will have a big role to play in the push for a Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup double.
With six goals in the bag already, more are surely on the way.
