Celtic winger Nicolas Kuhn has responded to speculation that he could be in the picture for a call-up to the German national team.

The attacker has been in fine fettle this season, scoring 10 goals and registering 11 assists across 17 appearances in all comPetitions.

His strikes against RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League grabbed headlines, but Kuhn’s goals away to Ross County and Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership were equally as pivotal.

The 24-year-old has emerged from pre-season and into the new campaign like a different animal from 2023/24.

There were doubts about Kuhn’s ability to play for Celtic over the summer. Such questions now look foolish.

The fact that he is in the frame for a Germany call-up remains impressive. Indeed, national team boss Julian Nagelsmann recently described Kuhn as someone they are monitoring.

The Celt was recently asked about how he felt about such comments: “Yeah, really good,” he said (Sky Sports).

“That’s what you play for. The focus is now on Celtic, but of course, that’s a goal of mine [to play for the national team].

“I said a couple of years ago, the goal is to play in the national team. The first goal was the Champions League. I made a dream come true, so we will see.”

Although there isn’t another international break until March, if Kuhn keeps going at the rate he is, a dream call-up could be in the picture.

Now, though, the attacker’s full focus turns to Celtic ahead of what manager Brendan Rodgers has described as an ‘ultramarathon’ of fixtures ahead.

Things kick off this Saturday night at Tynecastle as the Bhoys make their hotly anticipated return to action.
