Celtic’s Daizen Maeda has been included in the latest SPFL Team of the Week.

It comes after the mercurial winger scored the opening goal in Sunday’s Glasgow derby, sweeping home from close range after a terrific cut-back cross from Alistair Johnston.

Maeda terrorised Rangers yet again at the weekend. He always turns up against the Ibrox club and gives opposition right-back James Tavernier nightmares.

He has now scored or assisted in each of the last three league Glasgow derbies, more than proving his worth to the champions.

With a goal and assist alike on Sunday, the Japanese attacker was selected as one of the standout performers from across Scotland’s top four divisions at the weekend:

Whether it be as a striker or winger, the 26-year-old remains a constant thorn in the side of his opponents.

Maeda’s speed, elite pressing ability, and sheer power make him arguably the best winger in Scotland.

What he doesn’t possess in terms of consistency on the ball, he more than makes up for off it.

Along with much of his teaMMAtes, he has looked in elite condition this season, scoring three goals and assisting two across four appearances in all comPetitions.

Brendan Rodgers has Maeda well in check, and seeing what he and his teaMMAtes can now conjure up in Europe should be engrossing.
