Can’t Miss Yard Sale At Popular German Restaurant That Just Closed
Over the past few years, many Hudson Valley Businesses have closed. It is hard to say goodbye to your favorite place to shop or enjoy a great meal. At the end of last week, one of the Hudson Valley's most popular restaurants announced they were closing for good.
The Gunk Haus in Highland, New York was not just a local favorite but it was also a destination for many who visited the Hudson Valley and enjoyed what the restaurant and bakery had to offer. Late last month it was announced that they would be closing for good and a new restaurant would be opening in that spot.
Some fans of the restaurant had hoped to dine and celebrate one last time at the popular Highland, New York restaurant tucked on a corner of Clintondale's apple orchards but unfortunately, they were unable to do their last weekend of service.
A Timeline of The Gunk Haus Restaurant Over the Last 4 Years
A car crashed into the Gunk Haus causing a devastating fire leaving the restaurant unexpectedly closed with people wondering when it could re-open.
A GoFundMe page was set up for the Gunk Haus after the June 2020 fire that closed the restaurant and bakery. Over $30,000 was raised which the restaurant ended up donating to the Fire Department which responded that night.
In June 2021, it was announced that the Gunk Haus would reopen after the fire. Once again people flocked back to enjoy the food and the view. Also, the community was looking forward to supporting their favorite restaurant.
In January of 2023, I told you that the Gunk Haus was for sale. And fast forward it appears a year and a half later someone has grabbed up a great restaurant to run as their own.
Yard Sale This Weekend at the Gunk Haus in Highland, New York
For fans of the restaurant who would like to have a memento of the place they enjoyed so many memories this weekend is your opportunity. On Thursday the GUnk Haus announced that they are having an estate sale at the restaurant and will be selling items fans of the restaurant might enjoy. Items are from the private residence and range from furniture to authentic German items.
