It is a busy week for Celtic defender Liam Scales, who is raring to face England this weekend after standing out in Sunday’s Glasgow derby.

The centre-back, along with his Hoops teaMMAte Adam Idah, is currently away on international duty with Ireland.

Heimer Hallgrimsson’s side welcome the Three Lions to Dublin on Saturday night for a hotly anticipated UEFA Nations League clash. Both sides will be aiming to get off to the perfect start in group B2.

It is always a feisty affair when the Irish meet the English, but Scales is relishing the clash.

He played a key role in keeping Rangers out last weekend and hopes to do the same this time around against a team full of Premier League stars.

“It’s probably never happened before that a player will have Rangers one weekend and England the next”, he said (Sports Joe).

“It’s as good as it gets.

“Hopefully we can do as well as we did on the weekend against Rangers. I hope we can bring that in with Ireland against England.

“The atmosphere will probably be brilliant and I’m really looking forward to it.”

Kick-off on Saturday night is at 5pm, but Ireland’s Game against England isn’t their only match of the international break.

Indeed, they welcome Greece to Dublin next Tuesday in what is perhaps a more winnable tie.

Despite this, Scales and Co. will first go all out to try to put the English to the sword in a clash that has a wealth of historical context, not just in Football.

After the intensity of the Glasgow derby, the centre-half will have to prepare himself for yet another lively affair.
