Nicolas Kuhn’s stellar start to the season continued in Celtic’s 4-1 victory over Hearts, with the German winger netting a powerful strike that left Craig Gordon beaten at his near post.

23rd November 2024; Tynecastle Park, Edinburgh, Scotland; Scottish Premiership Football, Hearts versus Celtic; Nicolas Kuhn of Celtic celebrates after he shoots and scores in the 60th minute to make it 2-0 to Celtic

The goal brought Kuhn’s tally to 11 goals and 11 assists in all comPetitions this season, taking his total goal contributions to 23—and it’s only November.

Kuhn is now just five goal contributions away from surpassing Jota’s best single-season record at Celtic. The Portuguese winger, who departed for Saudi Arabia in a £25 million move nearly 18 months ago, achieved 27 goal contributions in his best of his campaigns at Parkhead (13 goals and 12 assists in his first season, followed by 15 goals and 12 assists in his second).

The comparison between the two wingers has sparked debate among Celtic fans, with Kuhn’s rapid rise under Brendan Rodgers placing him firmly in the spotlight. While Jota was a fan favourite for his flair and consistency, Kuhn’s numbers suggest he is on course to eclipse his predecessor’s impact in less time.

Kuhn’s ability to deliver in big moments has been crucial for Celtic this season. His form has been a key factor in the team’s domestic dominance and strong European performances, cementing his place as one of the most exciting talents in the squad.
