Key Celtic Duo Not in Friday Training; Absences Explained
After a memorable European night on Wednesday against Slovan Bratislava, Celtic return to domestic action this weekend.
Scottish Championship outfit Falkirk are set to visit Parkhead in the last 16 of the league cup this Sunday.
After they got knocked out at the last-16 stage of the comPetition last term, the Hoops are desperate to win back the trophy this year and get some silverware in the bank early on.
Although John McGlynn’s side will provide a stern test, Brendan Rodgers can afford to make a few changes to his team this weekend.
And it already looks like there will be two alterations to Wednesday’s lineup. Indeed, according to The Scottish Sun, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Alistair Johnston are absent from training at Lennoxtown today.
Fans shouldn’t be worried, though, as both have been excused due to their strenuous schedules.
Johnston was recently pictured enjoying some time off in Manchester, while Carter-Vickers has History of being granted a day off at the end of a busy week; look at the last Glasgow derby.
Celtic do have one more training session before Sunday’s match, but it is unlikely that either of the defensive pair will come into the fray for the clash with the Bairns.
The Bhoys should have sufficient strength and depth to cope without them, though, with the likes of Anthony Ralston and Auston Trusty perhaps coming into the team.
