The Hoops were taught a Footballing lesson by the Germans midweek.

Every little mistake they made was firmly punished by the Bundesliga giants, who dominated proceedings.

Celtic were continually exposed, as their high press remained ineffective throughout. Dortmund were able to easily carve through Brendan Rodgers’ team on countless occasions.

The visitors had just one positive moment in the Game: eight minutes in, Arne Engels set up Daizen Maeda for their equaliser.

The Belgian whipped a deep cross into the opposition penalty area, from which the mercurial Maeda converted.

Back in familiar territory, Engels already had experience playing in front of the famous Yellow Wall but still looked lost in the Game.

Apart from an assist, the 21-year-old and all of his teammates didn’t muster much.

Engels opened up to German media after the match, telling them the final scoreline was slightly harsh on his team but that they now need to bounce back.

“We just didn’t play well,” he said (Kicker).

“Dortmund were really strong, but I still think 7-1 was a bit too much. We have to stick together now.

“We concentrate on ourselves and just look to the next game. It’s happening so quickly, there’s no time to think about it for long, we just have to get on with it.

“It wasn’t our best Game; I think everyone could see that. The good thing is that our next Game comes quickly and it’s up to us to show again that Dortmund was just a bad day and that we are still in a good mood.”

Engels and Celtic will aim to bounce back in the Highlands this weekend.

The Bhoys Travel to Dingwall on Sunday, aiming to continue their perfect start to the league campaign against Ross County, who are unbeaten in three.
