The Hoops were taught a Footballing lesson at Signal Iduna Park the other night.

Nuri Sahin’s men came flying out of the traps and were 5-1 up at the break.

Goals from Emre Can, Karim Adeyemi, Serhou Guirassy, and Felix Nmecha eventually sealed a 7-1 win for the Germans, which Celtic can have no complaints about.

The Bhoys’ Healthy goal difference, built up from their 5-1 battering of Slovan Bratislava on matchday one, was firmly wiped out by the result.

Despite this, they still occupy a respectable place in the table. Indeed, Brendan Rodgers’ men currently sit 20th in the Champions League standings, two points clear of the automatic elimination places:

Although they currently sit in a last-16 play-off berth, Celtic’s fixtures aren’t getting any easier.

They will visit last season’s Europa League winners, Atalanta, in a few weeks before welcoming Bundesliga high-flyers RB Leipzig to Glasgow’s east end at the beginning of November.

Until their trip to Bergamo, the Scottish Premiership champions’ full focus turns to domestic action.

The Celts head to Dingwall this weekend before welcoming an on-form Aberdeen team to Parkhead after the international break.

Six points out of six are essential as the Hoops look to maintain their perfect start to the domestic season.
