China sets new world record with over 10,000 drones in Shenzhen light show
China has broken two world records with a spectacular drone show over Shenzhen, featuring 10,197 drones lighting up the sky in celebration of National Day.
The event, which took place on September 26 at Shenzhen Bay Park, set new Guinness World Records for the largest number of drones flying simultaneously and the largest aerial image created by drones.
The stunning display showcased intricate patterns and cultural landmarks, including a segment titled “Sky City,” where drones depicted iconic elements of Shenzhen’s architecture and rich heritage.
The show paid tribute to the city’s traditions while highlighting China’s leadership in drone technology and aerial displays.
The week-long event will continue across Shenzhen’s five districts, with more than 10,000 drones lighting up the night sky each evening, creating new visual spectacles.
These drone shows, which use environmentally friendly lighting effects, have replaced traditional fireworks in a safe and innovative display of China’s technological prowess.
Drone swarm technology, which enables the coordination of thousands of drones from a single computer, has wide-ranging implications beyond entertainment, with potential applications in surveillance, defense, and logistics.
China’s leading position in drone production and its mastery of aerial displays further cements its status as a global innovator in this field.
In addition to the drone show, the event also introduced "cyber fireworks," a digital alternative to traditional pyrotechnics, reinforcing Shenzhen’s image as a hub of technological advancement.
