Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley was given the Hoops’ in-stadium Man of the Match award today for his contributions in another Glasgow derby win.

The Denmark international opened the scoring 35 minutes in with a thunderous finish from the edge of the box.

His strike kickstarted a manic few minutes of action which saw John Lundstram score an own goal, Cyriel Dessers get the Gers back into the Game, and Lundstram be sent off for a horrific tackle on Alistair Johnston.

2-1 up at half time with a man advantage, the Celts were in the driving seat but 10 minutes into the second 45, O’Riley’s spot-kick was saved by Jack Butland.

Despite netting three out of his last three from 12 yards, the 23-year-old was foiled and has admitted post-match that he was in two minds over what to do.

O’Riley was given time to think after a strange VAR review, and the pressure took its toll.

He said: (Sky Sports via Football Scotland) “I practised it yesterday and I probably just got in two minds when I was over it.

“So more to learn from again, I won’t do that again.”
