Celtic AGM: The Celtic End Addressed by CEO

The idea of a dedicated Celtic End in the Jock Stein Stand was raised during Celtic’s AGM, with a season ticket holder seeking clarity on whether the club plans to implement such a section and how it would affect fans currently seated in that area.

Celtic CEO Michael Nicholson clarified that the initiative isn’t directly led by the club but is being championed by a group of fans, including the Green Brigade and Bhoys Celtic. The proposal, which includes expanding rail seating to create a standing section behind the goal, has garnered significant interest through surveys distributed to supporters.

Nicholson noted that the demand for safe standing is increasing, adding that the club is still reviewing survey results and weighing the practicalities of the proposal. He acknowledged that any decision would require careful consideration of all fans’ views.

Nicholson referenced Stamford Bridge’s standing section as a potential model, showing how similar initiatives have been implemented successfully at other clubs. However, he admitted the issue is contentious, especially given the potential need for seat relocations.

For many supporters, being asked to move from their long-held seats if they don’t wish to participate in a standing section is a significant concern. While the idea has strong backing from sections of the support, such changes would require a careful balancing act to keep all fans happy.
