Despite Leipzig’s surprising lack of points in the comPetition so far, Sutton believes the German side, who are joint leaders of the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich, pose a significant threat that should not be taken lightly.

Leipzig’s narrow defeats to powerhouses Atletico Madrid, Juventus, and Liverpool highlight their capability, and Sutton believes their desperation to stay in the tournament will make them a dangerous opponent for Celtic when they Travel to Glasgow in just over a week.

Writing in The Daily Record, Sutton pointed out Leipzig’s aggressive pressing style, which troubled even Liverpool in their matchup. This high-energy approach could challenge Celtic’s typical expansive style, and Sutton advises Brendan Rodgers to adapt accordingly to avoid being caught out by Leipzig’s press.

“Don’t be fooled by the fact the Germans have no points. They still possess top talent and caused Liverpool all sorts of problems in the early stages of their match in midweek with their own aggressive press. Arne Slot’s team were caught on occasions and got away with not being punished. Rodgers will look closely at that. Of course, there is more onus to go for it at home, but, while expansive and excellent against Slovan Bratislava, it may need dialled-down for Leipzig.

“Then you could take more risk again against Brugge and Young Boys at home, while altering similarly for Zagreb and Aston Villa away. It’s about adaptation, constantly.”

Celtic’s goalless draw in Italy has brought hopes of qualifying back to life. After Dortmund, fans seemed to be down beat, but the point has brought some positivity back.

It’s believed that 10 points would do the trick for Celtic and see them qualify for the knockout stage for the round of 16. With Celtic on four points, it means the club are just two wins away from securing their place in the next stage.
