Brendan Rodgers: Celtic Duo Could Make Injury Return vs Motherwell
Brendan Rodgers has provided a positive injury update ahead of Celtic’s upcoming match against Motherwell, suggesting that key defenders Cameron Carter-Vickers and Greg Taylor could feature.
Speaking to Celtic TV, Rodgers expressed optimism about the duo’s return to action after both players resumed full training this week.
“We’ve got Cam back training with the squad, which is good news. Greg too,” Rodgers said. “We’ve got one more day of training to go, but hopefully we can get them involved in the Game.”
Their return would be a boost for Celtic’s backline, particularly as they look to maintain their strong domestic form.
Carter-Vickers has been out of action and missed last week’s draw against Aberdeen and the Champions League trip to Atalanta, while Taylor has been sidelined since before the international break.
Auston Trusty has been a little shaky in the Hoops’ backline, filling the void left by Cameron Carter-Vickers, but on Wednesday night against Atalanta, he really stood up and was solid alongside Liam Scales in the backline.
Alex Valle has been filling in for Greg Taylor and has impressed. He’s still a raw talent, but you can see the potential he has. The Barcelona loanee is really growing into the role, and it would feel a little harsh for Greg Taylor just to take it back off him.
Whether the duo starts immediately is another story. Brendan Rodgers knows he has some big Games on the horizon, so risking the players might not be a gamble he is prepared to take.
