As Celtic fans, we are blessed to watch some of the best players in the country strut their stuff in the famous green and white Hoops.

Matt O’Riley, Reo Hatate, Daizen Maeda and James Forrest give Celtic the creative edge to carve out chances for the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi.

At the back we have the ever-solid Cameron Carter-Vickers teaming up with Joe Hart to keep the backdoor closed.

And on the bench, we can call upon the likes of Luis Palma or Nicholas Kuhn to contribute with their skills if required.

When it all clicks, it’s great to watch but there have been times this season where it hasn’t and Celtic have been tough to watch. But last night wasn’t one of those times.

Chris Sutton blown away by Celtic’s quality vs Kilmarnock

Chris Sutton was on co-commentary last night and after watching a blistering first-half performance from Celtic, he made this statement.

Sutton said [Sky Sports], “I’ve got to say, Celtic, some of their Football in this first half is as good as I’ve seen all season on this monstrosity of a pitch.”

Celtic have had issues on these plastic pitches where sometimes the surface is not conducive to fast, free-flowing football.

But in 45 first-half minutes, you would have thought the Bhoys were at home with the quality of football they produced.

Now, was it better than the Hearts performance two weekends ago? Or what about the Football Rodgers’ side produced against Rangers in the 2-1 win?

Could an argument be made that the 6-0 win over Aberdeen was a better performance than last night?

Probably. But one thing is for sure. If Rodgers can replicate what Celtic did last night on the 25th of May then the Scottish Cup will most likely be resting in the Parkhead trophy cabinet beside the Scottish Premiership.
