Celtic have been doing some good work in tying down their best players onto new and improved deals this season.

Brendan Rodgers moved swiftly to bed in some stability at the club as speculation mounted that some of Celtic’s first-team stars could have followed Ange Postecoglou down south to Tottenham Hotspur.

As it happened, Kyogo Furuhashi, Matt O’Riley, Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda all pledged their future to the club.

And this week, Liam Scales followed suit. But as every fan knows, it’s not just the Celtic first team that needs work done on the contract situation as Anthony Joeseph delivers an update on young Daniel Kelly‘s contract talks.

Daniel Kelly rejects new deal but is ‘keen’ to stay at Celtic

We told back in March how Celtic and young Daniel Kelly were both keen to extend his stay in Paradise. Talks were in their initial stages but confidence was high that a deal could be reached.

But Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph has delivered a bitter-sweet update this afternoon on how the talks have been going so far.

18-year-old Kelly was handed his debut in the Scottish Cup in the 5-0 win over Buckie Thistle in the Scottish Cup earlier this year.

The youngster got his first goalscoring SPFL start for Celtic in the 7-1 thrashing of Dundee as well and it seems that what he is doing on the pitch as well as in training is really impressing Brendan Rodgers.

Hopefully both parties are not too far apart in where they want the contracts to be and the good news is that both do share a common goal.

Hopefully, a deal can be reached and the Celtic fans can enjoy watching a young academy prospect flourish in the first team in the not-too-distant future.
