Wembanyama admits to being “a little beat up” after injury scare

San Antonio Spurs fans are clinging onto the hope that star man Victor Wembanyama can overcome his injury and be back for them in their next game, against the Dallas Mavericks.

The 20-year-old suffered an injury scare in the Spurs' last Game, against the Lakers in a tight 120-115 loss, admitting afterwards that he felt “a little beat up”.

The scare came against Anthony Davis, who was the key player for his side, getting 40 points in total with 14 of 26 from the field and 10 of 12 from the free throw line.

Davis and Wembanyama crashed into each other and their knees collided awkwardly, with medical staff quick to take up positions and assess the issue down the tunnel.

However, the youngster did offer plenty of comfort for fans who were biting their nails seeing him retire to the bench:

“[I’m] a little beat up right now,” Wembanyama told reporters postGame. “I took a big hit, but it’s just a hit. I didn’t twist nothing, so I’m good. ...This is not a big deal. If ever [there is a point] tomorrow [where it’s] horrible, of course I would be smart, but it should be all right.”

The official injury report submitted by the Spurs to the NBA has Victor Wembanyama down as ‘questionable’, with a contusion (bruise) the reason behind his listing. As such, fans will have to wait and see if he passes all the fitness tests required by the team’s medical staff in order to be given the green light to play in the back-to-back tie against the Mavs.
