Victor Wanyama’s Social Media Post after Celtic Champions League Visit
Former Celtic powerhouse Victor Wanyama made a nostalgic return to Celtic Park on Tuesday night, witnessing the Hoops’ impressive 3-1 triumph over RB Leipzig in the Champions League.
The visit marked a special moment for Wanyama, who took part in the halftime Paradise Windfall draw and delighted fans with some remarks on his time at the club.
The night wasn’t just about the spectacle of European Football for Wanyama—it was also a reunion with old teaMMAtes and familiar faces.
He met up with Scott Brown, his former Celtic midfield partner, and observed Alistair Johnston, who has become a standout figure for the club since his arrival.

Johnston, who shared the pitch with Wanyama at Montreal, credited the ex-Celtic midfielder with advising him ahead of his move to Glasgow in December 2022.
Johnston has flourished at Celtic, winning a treble within his first six months and now reportedly close to signing a new, lucrative deal to secure his future at the club.
Reflecting on their continued bond, Johnston, on Celtic TV, previously revealed Wanyama’s support: “Big Vic, legend. What a guy. We’re still in contact. He keeps sending me texts congratulating me on winning trophies. That’s one of the funniest things he said. ‘Alistair, you’ve got to get in the gym so you can work on picking up the trophies.’ Fair enough, because he’s a big lad.”
Wanyama will always be remembered for his Champions League goal in the historic 2-1 over Barcelona over a decade ago. He’ll always be welcome back at Celtic Park, and is a hero for many who fill the stands.
