The 26-year-old midfielder, who signed from Dundee on deadline day, is ineligible for the Premier Sports Cup Final against Rangers due to being cup-tied but remains focused on contributing to the club’s ambitions across multiple fronts.

As quoted by Football Scotland, McCowan praised the depth and quality of the Celtic squad, voicing his confidence in the team’s ability to navigate a demanding schedule.

“I mean, I don’t need to speak for this team. Obviously I’m just kind of new to it, but it won’t be any different than before. You’re used to the winter breaks that you get, not get out of this year, but, the boys will be ready come Saturday and it’s a long schedule to come but we’ve got a big enough squad and a good enough squad to go and make a right dent.

“It sets the flame I think.

“You want to be a part of this team, you want to be playing for this club. I’ve been working as hard as I can to then take my chance when it comes and help the team out when I can.

“It’s a bit weird playing on a Saturday night, but it’s just a midweek Game and you treat it as the quarter-to-eight kick-off, and it’ll be a loud one for sure at Tynecastle.

“Everybody will always tell you it’s one game at a time, which of course it is, but it’s just a thing you’ve got to kind of think about. And obviously, sad for me, I’ll not even be able to make the cup final, I’ll just be watching it and cheering the boys on, but I’m sure there’ll be others to come and I’ll be involved in them.”

McCowan has been great since he arrived at Celtic, although only receiving limited Game time.

Coming in from Dundee at a modest fee of £1 million, fans weren’t quite sure what to expect from the midfielder, but he’s come in and been unlucky not to get some more starts under his belt.

He’s come on in big Games, when Celtic were losing control of the matches a bit, and changed the flow of the Games. He’s even helped set up winners for the Hoops and get on the scoresheet himself.

There was probably a bit of snobbery from fans when he was initially linked, but fans wouldn’t mind seeing a few more of him walking through the doors in upcoming transfer windows.
