Travis Kelce, the Kansa City Chiefs tight end, broke Jerry Rice’s all-time NFL playoff receptions record this afternoon during the AFC Championship Game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Rice’s record was 151 receptions, with 2,245 yards and 22 touchdowns. Kelce came into the game needing seven catches to set the record and picked up his 152nd postseason reception with an eight yard pick up from Mahomes in the first half against the Ravens. In total he needed just three drives, picking up 66 yards and scoring the Chiefs first touchdown.

Kelce’s race to the record

Kelce set the new record in just his 21st playoff game. Rice required 29 games with three different teams (49ers, Raiders and Seahawks).

The Chiefs’ tight end still needs another four post season touchdowns to move past Rice for that record. His TD early in the game was his 19th, Rice finished his career with 22.
