Kansas City Chiefs president Mark Donovan insisted that Taylor Swift’s love story with his team’s star tight end is the real deal.
During a Wednesday, November 20 appearance on CNBC’s Squawk Box, Donovan, 58, was asked by host Joe Kernan about the origins of Swift’s relationship with the Chiefs’ Travis Kelce.
“Did you write this?” Kernan, 68, asked him.
“I’d love to say that it was a marketing strategy,” Donovan replied. “But it is an authentic relationship and we’re happy to have it. It’s been nothing but good for us.”
Donovan added, “I think the best thing I can say about the whole relationship and the impact it’s had on us is: Taylor Swift is an authentic member of the Kansas City Chiefs Kingdom. She’s an authentic fan.”
Furthermore, Donovan — who became president of the Chiefs in 2011 — said the Kingdom has embraced Swift, 34, right back.
“That matters to our fans and our faNBAse,” he insisted. “And it matters to us. We try and respect that.”
As for what the rest of this potentially historic season holds for his team — the Chiefs are aiming to become the first franchise in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowls — Donovan said his squad remains focused on the goal after losing their first game of the season on Sunday, November 17 to the Buffalo Bills.
“Our goal is to consistently comPete for championships,” Donovan boasted, saying the organization wants to win “as many as we possibly can.”
He added, “We have the opportunity to make History. We’ve made a lot of History in our franchise over the last decade. But we have the opportunity to do something that’s never been done in the National Football League.”
The Chiefs look to bounce back from their loss to the Bills when they return to action on Sunday, November 24, against the Carolina Panthers.
As for Swift’s integration into the fabric of the team’s faNBAse, the comments made by Donovan were previously confirmed by Chiefs head coach Andy Reid.

Swift has also become good friends with some of the other wives and girlfriends of the team, including quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ wife, Brittany Mahomes, and wide receiver Mecole Hardman’s fiancée, Chariah Gordon.
“I actually got a chance to meet her at Trav’s house and she was just super, super sweet,” Gordon, 29, recently told Glamour about Swift. “And since then we’ve been super cool. I call her my sis. That’s my sis.”
