Former Celtic star Chris Sutton has been sharing his thoughts on the club’s pursuit of Norwich striker Adam Idah. In his view, Celtic’s decision to let Hyeongyu Oh go might be a sign that the club feels positive about securing Idah’s return.

Chris Sutton Speculates on Celtic’s Confidence in Adam Idah Deal

“The decision to allow Hyeongyu Oh to leave suggests to me Celtic are confident they will get Adam Idah back – despite some of the noises from Norwich,” Sutton speculated in his RecordSport column.

“I’m sure Rodgers would have preferred to have him on board for the US but the good thing about Idah is they know all about him and he wouldn’t need time to settle in. Celtic can afford to wait until the deal is right and he’ll walk back into the set-up without too much fuss.”

Idah had a successful four-month loan at Celtic, helping the team win the league and scoring a 90th-minute winner in the Scottish Cup final against Rangers. His previous spell at the club and his ability to deliver in crucial moments make him an appealing option for Brendan Rodgers.

However, Rodgers currently has a pressing need for another striker, with Kyogo being the only forward available. Sutton highlighted this, saying, “Rodgers will need another striker though as Kyogo is the only one they have got right now. Even if Idah arrives, it still leaves them at least one short with Rocco Vata also heading for the door.”

Despite Celtic’s interest, Norwich City are continuing their pre-season preparations with Idah. He has played in their last two friendlies, showing that Norwich sees him as a valuable part of their squad.

The next few weeks will be critical as Celtic looks to finalise their squad for the new season. While Sutton’s speculation suggests optimism, it remains to be seen if Celtic can secure the deal for Idah.
