Ahead of Celtic’s midweek clash with Dundee, Brendan Rodgers has teased a return of two key players. Cameron Carter-Vickers (CCV), returning from a toe injury, and Greg Taylor, who has missed the last four Games, are both in contention for selection on Wednesday night.

Carter-Vickers made his comeback on Sunday during Celtic’s win over Motherwell, getting a brief run-out to start regaining his match fitness. Rodgers is keen not to rush the defender back after his spell on the sidelines but was pleased to see him back in action. Speaking about CCV’s return, Rodgers told Celtic TV, “Cameron Carter-Vickers came in and got some Game time, which was good for him. He needs to build up that match fitness.”

Greg Taylor was also named in the squad on Sunday, though he didn’t feature. His presence on the bench, however, suggests he’s close to a return and could play a role on Wednesday. Rodgers commented on the left-back’s status, saying, “Greg Taylor was on the bench. Didn’t feature but it makes hopefully a lot of them available for Wednesday and we will see about one or two others.”

Pivotal Night in the Premiership Title Race

With Celtic sitting atop the Premiership on goal difference, the stakes are high for Wednesday’s match. Aberdeen, breathing down Celtic’s neck, take on Rangers the same evening, making it a potentially defining night in this early part of the title race. A win over Dundee would not only keep Celtic ahead but also pile pressure on both sides playing at Pittodrie.

As Rodgers looks to keep the squad fresh and comPetitive, the return of Carter-Vickers and Taylor will be key to bolstering his defensive options. Although who the Irishman is going to drop for CCV longterm is a huge talking point.

Alex Valle has been beginning to come into his own as a left back option, so there’s no guarantee Greg keeps his spot once completely fit.
