Sons Of The Forest Sells 2 Million Copies Within First 24 Hours

Sons of the Forest has become Steam's new darling. Endnight Games' survival horror title created headlines by becoming the most wishlisted Game on Steam, despite being an indie title by a relatively small dev. However, this didn't seem to matter to many people, as the numbers just kept rising, despite the Game receiving multiple delays. The Gameplay trailer, which came out nearly two years ago, really worked wonders with its stunning visuals and animations.

Well, the game has launched in Early Access, and it has been scoring high numbers across the board. It hit 250,000 concurrent players just hours after launch, and has already received 18,000 Very Positive Steam reviews. However, the game has also reached another massive milestone, one that eclipses the ones already mentioned. According to developer Endnight Games, Sons of the Forest has sold 2 million copies within a day of its launch.

"Hey Everyone, Thanks to those who have joined us in our Early Access journey into ‘Sons Of The Forest’ We have sold over 2 million copies in the first 24 hours, and are very excited for what we have in store for players in the coming weeks," says a Tweet by Endnight.

Apart from the uninhabited island filled with creepy monsters, the resource management, and the base building, it seems one of the most popular features of the Game is your AI companion, Kelvin. He will do whatever you ask of him in the most diligent way possible, without any complaints – because he can't make any complaints. Players have immediately fallen in love with him, but many have also seen their trust betrayed. It turns out that the NPC will sometimes chop wood out of your own base and destroy it, if you ask him to collect some. It's unclear if this is a bug, or if it's just how Kelvin has been designed.

Just to update you on the current numbers for Sons of the Forest, at the time of writing, there are 296,339 players in the Game at this moment. The all-time peak for concurrent players came around 16 hours ago, and sits at 411,999, according to SteamDB.
