Former Celtic full-back Mark Wilson did not hold back when discussing Vladimir Weiss and his stint at Rangers during an appearance on the Open Goal podcast.

Wilson’s disdain for Weiss was rekindled after witnessing the Slovakian’s return to Glasgow, as he suffered a heavy defeat to Celtic in the Champions League. It was Celtic’s biggest Champions League win and their first on the opening day of the tournament.

Weiss, who spent a season on loan at Rangers from Manchester City in 2010, was part of a team that won the Premiership and League Cup. However, Wilson’s memories of Weiss are far from fond, particularly recalling a Game where Weiss celebrated a Rangers victory that involved a penalty setup that still seems to irk Wilson.

Describing Weiss as a “pr***” and other expletives, Wilson expressed a deep-seated animosity that was only amplified seeing Weiss return to Glasgow as he wore the captain’s armband.

“He was a p***, Weiss. He was,” Wilson said on Open Goal.

“Remember it was that period where Diouf and all that was there and they had a squad with some individuals that were just…

“Remember Sammy missed the penalty at Ibrox, Rangers won the league and then in the celebrations I’m sure he set up the penalty, into McGregor and he played it out and they all started celebrating.

“He was a f***ing d*** so he was.

“I was buzzing. I couldn’t believe he was captain of them last night!”

It was a pathetic performance from the former Ibrox man on Wednesday night. He was one of the poorest players on the pitch. The Celtic supporters ensured he received a warm welcome right from the off and jeered his every touch of the ball.

And for those who hoped he’d lead the side to a win, Celtic had the last laugh.
