Pundit Michael Stewart has echoed the thoughts of many Celtic fans this season regarding the rise of Nicolas Kuhn. The young player joined the Hoops during the January window at the start of the year, but his initial impact was limited.

While Kuhn played a part in Celtic’s title triumph, he wasn’t setting the world alight in his early outings. Fast forward to September, and the winger has been on fire since pre-season, culminating in a standout performance in Celtic’s 5-2 League Cup quarter-final victory.

Kuhn was brought on as a second-half substitute on Sunday, and in just 30 minutes, he made an extraordinary impact. The German not only set up two goals but also found the back of the net twice himself, ensuring Celtic’s place in the semi-final. Following the Game, Stewart, speaking on Premier Sports, was full of praise for the player, admitting that Kuhn had completely turned around his early perceptions.

“Since he came in, he’s shown flashes early on, but I still wasn’t sure that there was going to be enough from him,” Stewart said live on Premier Sports during the Celtic vs Falkirk broadcast. “But this season, bit by bit, he’s coming up with moments that are having an impact in the Game

His slow start to Celtic was explained by both the player and Brendan Rodgers at the tail end of last season when dental issues hampered his initial start at the club in January which saw the winger lose weight in the early going.

Stewart’s comments reflect a growing sentiment among the Celtic supporters. While Kuhn initially struggled to find consistency, he now appears to have hit his stride, contributing in significant moments under Brendan Rodgers’ guidance.

The transformation is all down to the hard work put in by both Kuhn and the coaching staff at Celtic, who have helped the winger develop his Game. As his confidence continues to grow, fans will be hoping that Kuhn’s impressive form carries on as the season progresses.
