Celtic’s Champions League Opponents Humbled Ahead of Crucial Clash
Celtic may have struggled in the first half this afternoon against Falkirk, but they ultimately secured the win, something that cannot be said for one of their Champions League opponents, who suffered a heavy defeat ahead of their upcoming clash with the Hoops.
Having won 5-1 against Slovan Bratislava at Celtic Park on Wednesday in the Champions League, Celtic finally secured a win on the opening day of the comPetition for the first time since its rebranding.
However, next up, Celtic face last season’s Champions League finalists, Borussia Dortmund, at the Signal Iduna Park on October 1st.
This clash is arguably the Hoops’ toughest Game of the comPetition, but the German giants were on the receiving end of a shocking 5-1 thrashing by Stuttgart this afternoon.
It’s a result that will come as a welcome sign for Celtic fans ahead of the upcoming Game and a major concern for Dortmund manager Nuri Sahin, as his side’s form comes under scrutiny just before the big European Game.
However, the world-class atmosphere at the Signal Iduna Park will make it a very challenging Game for the Hoops.
With Dortmund’s vulnerabilities now exposed, Celtic will be eager to capitalise on any weaknesses as they prepare for the clash on October 1st.
