“It’s friendly competition” – Adam Idah Lifts Lid on Relationship With Kyogo
Celtic striker Adam Idah has lifted the lid on his relationship with his fellow Hoops centre-forward Kyogo Furuhashi.
Brendan Rodgers has two elite options to pick from at the top end of the pitch. Indeed, both players are proven scorers for the Scottish Premiership champions.
Idah netted countless crucial goals during his initial loan spell with Celtic and has found form over the past few matches, scoring thrice in two Games.
Kyogo is equally a big Game player, his sole two strikes this campaign coming in the Glasgow derby and UEFA Champions League.
In Rodgers’ eyes, both players are vying for the starting number nine jersey, but neither is an out-and-out number one pick.
Indeed, the boss has consistently stated that the pair will share minutes this campaign and provide an equal threat. That has proved to be exactly the case so far in 2024/25.
While some might question the relationship between two players who are fighting for the same place in the team, Idah has revealed that his and Kyogo’s couldn’t be any better.
The Irishman recently lifted the lid on the pair’s bond.
“We both have the same aim — and that is to score goals and help this team,” he said (The Scottish Sun).
“We’ve both got off to a pretty good start this season.
“Do I think that we bring the best out in each other? Yeah, definitely. It’s friendly comPetition.
“It’s the same in training, we’re always working hard and there is no bitterness between us. We’re friendly with each other and he helps me just like I help him.
“It’s great, Kyogo’s a good player to look up to, a good role model — and I can learn a few things from him on the pitch too.”
If Celtic are to have a successful season, the form of both strikers will be key to their prosperity.
In times of need, Idah and Kyogo regularly provide the goods for their side and will be expected to do so on many more occasions between now and the end of the campaign.
