Celtic winger Luis Palma has been a bit-part player this season, racking up just 36 minutes of action across the Hoops’ opening five comPetitive Games of the campaign.

He did pick up a knock on Flag Day against St. Mirren but that didn’t hinder him too much, keeping him out of the squad for just one match.

There were murmurs the Honduran wide-man could depart Glasgow this summer amidst interest from Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga, but he remained put having spent only a year in Scotland so far.

The 24-year-old’s maiden 12 months with the Hoops were full of ups and downs but on the whole, Palma coped somewhat adequately with joining Celtic. He made 36 appearances across all comPetitions, scoring 10 goals and assisting as many.

While his numbers are respectable, watching Palma play at times can be hugely frustrating.

Some supporters were annoyed he wasn’t shipped away this summer although Palma is here to stay until at least January.

Now away with his country Honduras on international duty, the attacker has been talking about his early-season minutes, explaining he has no complaints about his lack of game time.

“I was injured in the first Game of the season and you have to take that into account”, he said (Glasgow Times).

“It has taken me a while to get back, and also, my Celtic teaMMAtes are doing really well at the moment.

“So I just have to wait for the opportunity to get back.”

Palma’s words come as he gets set to face Trinidad and Tobago and then Jamaica in CONCACAF Nations League matches.

He will want to perform for his country to put him into the thoughts of Brendan Rodgers ahead of a hectic Celtic schedule post-international break.
