Draftkings Best John Deere Classic First Round DFS Picks 7/4/24

This Thursday, Draftkings Golf fans will be presented with the first round of the 2024 John Deere Classic. Let’s take a look at the first round of this event from a DFS perspective.

Before I discuss my Draftkings player selections, let’s review where the first round of the 2024 John Deere Classic will be played.

The first round of the 2024 John Deere Classic will be played at TPC Deere Run in in Silvis, Illinois. The Golf course is a par 71 that measures approximately 7,289 yards.

I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact DFS lineup.

Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a DraftKings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!

For those readers who are not aware, the rules and scoring for DraftKings single round showdown contests are vastly different than the traditional classic contests offered by the platform.

Here are my DraftKings player selections for the first round of the 2024 John Deere Classic.

John Deere Classic Draftkings Picks

Maverick McNealy $9,800

Maverick McNealy has accumulated three top 23 finishes in his last four events played on the PGA Tour, including a seventh-place result at the 2024 RBC Canadian Open four weeks ago.

McNealy certainly checks the box for me when it comes to key player statistics. Let me be more specific. In relation to this week’s 2024 John Deere Classic field, in the last 24 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Maverick McNealy ranks second in birdie or better percentage, eighth in strokes gained tee to green, second in strokes gained on par fours, and first in total Draftkings points scored.

It should also be noted that Maverick McNealy has played well at this week’s PGA Tour event multiple times over the course of his career. McNealy’s best result at this tournament was an eighth-place finish at the 2022 John Deere Classic.

J.T. Poston $9,200

The talented American has accumulated two top 22 finishes in his last four tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including a 12th place result at the 2024 Charles Schwab Challenge in May.

Similar to Maverick McNealy, Poston has played well at the John Deere Classic previously. Poston won the 2022 John Deere Classic.

Adam Svensson $8,100

Two weeks ago, Adam Svensson fired a third round 63 at the 2024 Travelers Championship en route to an eventual 16th place finish.

Due to Adam Svensson’s quality finish at the 2024 Travelers Championship I decided to take a hard look at the relevant player statistics for the tournament to see how Svensson fared relative to the field.

Upon the completion of four rounds of comPetitive play at the 2024 Travelers Championship, in relation to the field, Adam Svensson ranked 11th in strokes gained around the green (0.576), 19th in strokes gained tee to green (0.809), and 17th in bogey avoidance (6).

J.J. Spaun $7,300

J.J. Spaun has accumulated two top 26 finishes in his last four events played on the PGA Tour, including a tenth-place result at last week’s 2024 Rocket Mortgage Classic.

I fully expect J.J. Spaun to continue his quality play this week at TPC Deere Run.

Patton Kizzire $7,200

Since the beginning of May, Patton Kizzire has played six tournaments on the PGA Tour. In those six events just noted, Kizzire has accumulated five top 28 finishes, including a tenth-place finish at the 2024 Myrtle Beach Classic six weeks ago.
