2024 Travelers Championship
June 20, 2024 8:00 am EDT

This week, Draftkings golf fans will be presented with the 2024 Travelers Championship. Let’s take a look at this week’s event from a Draftkings perspective.

Before I dive into my DFS player selections for this tournament let’s review the golf course the field will play and the key player statistics that I think are the most vital to a golfer’s success at this week’s 2024 Travelers Championship.

Where will the 2024 Travelers Championship be played?

The 2024 Travelers Championship will be played at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut. The golf course is a par 70 that measures 6,835 yards.

Keegan Bradley won the 2023 Travelers Championship with a cumulative four round score of 23 under par.

Will the Travelers Championship have a traditional cut after two rounds?

The 2024 Travelers Championship will not have a traditional cut due to the PGA Tour designating this tournament as a “signature” event prior to the start of the 2024 season. The Travelers Championship will have a limited field of only 72 Golfers. With the event not having a cut, all 72 comPetitors will play all four rounds.

Travelers Championship Key Player Statistics

  • Strokes Gained: Tee to Green
  • Strokes Gained: Approach
  • GIR (greens in regulation)
  • Strokes Gained: Putting
  • Strokes Gained: Par Fours
  • Birdie of Better Percentage

I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact DFS lineup.

Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a DraftKings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!

2024 Travelers Championship Draftkings DFS Picks

Patrick Cantlay $9,600

The talented American has accumulated five top 29 finishes in his last seven tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including an impressive third place finish at last week’s 2024 U.S. Open.

Due to Patrick Cantlay’s quality finish at the 2024 U.S. Open I decided to take a hard look at the relevant player statistics for the event to see how Cantlay fared relative to the field.

Upon the completion of four rounds of competitive play at the 2024 U.S. Open, in relation to the field, Patrick Cantlay ranked eighth in strokes gained tee to green (10.1), sixth in strokes gained approach (5.5), ninth in GIR (greens in regulation-64%) tenth in strokes gained putting (5.1), and sixth in strokes gained on par fours (9.1).

Cantlay also checks the box for me when it comes to previous event/course History. Let me be more specific. Since 2018, Patrick Cantlay has played the Travelers Championship a total of six times. In those six tournaments just mentioned, Cantlay has accumulated six top 15 finishes, including a fourth-place result at the 2023 Travelers Championship.

Ludvig Aberg $10,200

Ludvig Aberg has accumulated four top 12 finishes in his last five events played on the PGA Tour, including a second-place result at the 2024 Masters Tournament in April. I certainly like Ludvig Aberg’s chances of playing at a high level at this week’s 2024 Travelers Championship.

Tony Finau $8,900

The talented American has accumulated six top 18 finishes in his last eight tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including a second-place result at the 2024 Texas Children’s Houston Open in April.

In relation to this week’s 2024 Travelers Championship field, in the last 50 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Tony Finau ranks third in strokes gained approach, fourth in GIR (greens in regulation), fifth in strokes gained tee to green, 15th in birdie or better percentage, and seventh in strokes gained on par fives.

Tony Finau has posted a quality result at the Travelers Championship in the past. Tony Finau finished 13th at the 2022 Travelers Championship.

Additional golfers I like to play well (Draftkings price noted): Scottie Scheffler $12,500: Collin Morikawa $9,800: Sam Burns $9,000: Keegan Bradley $8,700: Adam Scott $7,700: Austin Eckroat $6,800: Matthieu Pavon $6,800.
