The Washington Commanders have acquired cornerback Marshon Lattimore from the New Orleans Saints. The Commanders sent a third-round pick, a fourth-round pick, and a sixth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft to the Saints in exchange for Lattimore and a 2025 fifth-round pick.

What does this trade mean for the Commanders?

This trade is a strategic boost to their secondary. Lattimore, a four-time Pro Bowler, brings a wealth of experience and skill to Washington’s defense. Lattimore has recorded 15 interceptions and 88 pass breakups over his career. His addition is expected to significantly enhance the CoMMAnders’ pass defense, which has been a weak spot this season.

The Saints, on the other hand, are looking towards the future with this trade. By acquiring multiple draft picks, they gain valuable assets to rebuild and strengthen their roster.

The departure of Lattimore, while significant, opens up opportunities for younger players like Alontae Taylor and Kool-Aid McKinstry to step up. The draft picks will provide the Saints with the flexibility to address various needs and build a more balanced team.
