It was in October 2017 that Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin were first papped together in public. People magazine was the first to report that the duo were seen enjoying a sushi date in Los Angeles. While Martin and Johnson’s representatives did not respond to the report, a source informed People that they looked “cozy, laughing, and affectionate” during their dinner date.

In January 2022, Johnson ran into some technical difficulties in a Zoom interview for her movie Cha Cha Real Smooth during Sundance’s virtual film festival. This led to Martin’s unexpected cameo in the interview, taking the internet by storm.

In March 2024, People reported that the Celebrity couple had been engaged since 2020 (when fans first spotted Johnson with the ring).
