Celtic Joint-top: Cup Win Blows Rivals’ ‘Most successful’ Phrase Out The Water
Celtic dramatically won the Scottish Cup on Saturday afternoon as they triumphed 1-0 over their city rivals Rangers at Hampden in the sun.
The Game was tight and cagey but in the end, the Hoops’ serial winning mentality shone through, Adam Idah pouncing in the six-yard box to tap home from a rebounded Paulo Bernardo strike.
Iconic scenes were sparked in the green and white end of the national stadium when the big man from Cork scored a goal which all but secured the Hoops’ 42nd Scottish Cup and 118th major honour.
With the cup victory, Celtic have now won the same number of trophies as Rangers.
Fans of the Ibrox club claim they are ‘the most successful team in Football’, but such a phrase has now been taken away from their vocabulary because it can apply to the Bhoys, too.
The dominant force in Scottish Football since the turn of the millennium, Celtic proved once more today that they simply know how to win.
It didn’t look likely at points – particularly towards the Game’s end – but Brendan Rodgers’ men pulled through and deserved to do the double.
