You’ve got to love a main event that features a champion — particularly a champion with extra motivation. Bantamweight belt-holder Sean O’Malley (17-1) faces No. 5 Marlon Vera (21-8-1), who’s the only person to vanquish O’Malley.
O’Malley has said it was a “freak accident” that Vera beat him in 2020 with a kick that literally struck a nerve in O’Malley’s right leg and led to Vera jumping on top of him and bludgeoning his way to a first-round KO/TKO. Yan is a slight favorite despite losing four of his last five fights — including two title matches to Sterling. However, Song’s only recent loss came against Cory Sandhagen — the only guy Yan has beaten in his last five.
