Mississippi State Bulldogs Betting Preview

Back in 2023 the Bulldogs pulled off a 5-7 record overall. Mississippi State did even worse in SEC play, going just 1-7 to land one spot out of the basement in the West Division. The Bulldogs finished ahead of only Arkansas (also 1-7).

In their first matchup of 2024 versus Eastern Kentucky, the Bulldogs didn’t have any issues. Mississippi State scored double-digit points in three of four quarters during a blowout win 56-7. Blake Shapen threw for 247 yards and three touchdowns while also leading the rush on 44 yards and a score.

Arizona State Sun Devils Betting Preview

Over on the Arizona State side, they had a pretty rough year as well. The Sun Devils limped to a 3-8 overall run and had a 2-7 mark in Pac-12 Games. Arizona State finished ahead of only Colorado (1-8) in the standings.

Matched up against Wyoming back on Saturday, the Sun Devils also notched a blowout win, bagging double dight points in the first three quarters on the way to a 48-7 result. QB Sam Leavitt had 258 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Cameron Skattebo added 49 rush yards and a TD.

Arizona State vs Mississippi State Prediction

I’m going with Arizona State. This should be a fun matchup though, and you could make a case either way. The Sun Devils posted 499 total yards (241 rushing), 7.0 yards per play, 27 first downs and no turnovers in their blowout win Saturday. Defensively they were great as well with 118 yards allowed (78 passing), eight first downs, three turnovers and a 3-of-13 rate on third downs.

As for Mississippi State, they posted 450 yards (203 rushing) with zero turnovers in a pretty nice offensive display. Arizona State’s defense will be a much stouter test this week though, and I don’t quite think the Bulldogs will cover. Should be a great Game to watch, though.
