Adam Idah hits back after hearing something ‘strange’ the media said about him before Celtic move

Adam Idah has responded to what he’s heard said about him before he joined Celtic on loan in January.

The Republic of Ireland international decided to join Celtic on loan to get some much-needed Game time after falling behind in the pecking order at Norwich City.

And in just over four months, Idah went from a relatively unknown player to one who is now famous with the Celtic fans all over the world.

Important goals against Rangers, Motherwell and Hibs helped Celtic successfully defend the Scottish Premiership and win the Scottish Cup last season.

Idah slams ‘injury-prone’ comments

Now back at Norwich, the 23-year-old striker has hit out at his critics after hearing what’s been said in the media and by the Norwich fans before he made the temporary switch to Glasgow.

Idah said [Pink Un], “Overall, I have enjoyed Norwich. It’s the club that brought me up and where I started my career. I can only say good things about them.

“This is part of the football culture. You get a lot of lulls in your football career, and probably the last two years I was having those lulls.

“But I never once doubted my abilities. People say I’ve had a lot of injuries, but I’ve only had two injuries. I don’t know where this has come from, that I’m very injury-prone.

“That’s exactly what I’m saying, it’s probably the media and the fans saying I’ve always been injured but I’ve had two injuries, two contact injuries.

“I’ve never pulled a muscle in my career. That’s the strange one for me, to be hearing that I’m always injured because it’s not the case.

“I never doubted myself once in my career. I’ve always been confident and I’m glad I got to show that this season.”

Those rumours are very strange considering the Irishman has never had an issue at all with injury or fitness despite his lack of minutes on the park before he joined Celtic.

Thrown in at the deep end against Aberdeen and Hibs, Idah scored two and created one and saw out a full 90 minutes at Easter Road in just his second game quite easily.

With nine goals, a league winner’s medal and a Scottish Cup win under his belt, Idah is now the hottest name on the Celtic fans’ lips.

With Brendan Rodgers keen to see him return to the club, the Celtic supporters will care not a jot what the media or Norwich fans down south say.

Because as far as they are concerned, the Republic of Ireland striker has proven that he is not only fit enough to play for Celtic, he also has the mentality of a winner to be a success at the club.
